In today’s video, we’re discussing a massive iOS 14 and iOS 13 WiFi bug that has the potential to brick your WiFi completely by just joining a WiFi network. The bug was identified by a security researcher a couple of days ago and it appears to be caused by poor name sanitization on iOS. If a WiFi SSID contains “%” and you join it, it will permanently brick the WiFi on your device requiring pretty hard fixes.
A tweak called WiFiNameBugFix was released yesterday and it fixes the bug so that even if you join such a network, your WiFi won’t gray out and get bricked. The tweak is free, open-source, and available for all jailbreaks on iOS 13 to iOS 14.7. It’s crucial that you get the tweak if you have a jailbroken device. Apple knows about the bug and has seemingly fixed it in iOS 15 Beta, but not in iOS 14.
