It’s year 2022, and this ipad mini Gen 1 is sitting in one corner collecting dust.
It’s currently on the latest IOS 9.3.5 and it’s hella sluggish and not very satisfying to use the least.
So i’ve dusted it, charged it just to downgrade back to IOS 8.4.1.
PREREQUISITE DOWNLOADS :
Phoenix IPA :
Sideloadly : https://pangu8.com/sideloadly/
This video basically covers :
1. Jailbreaking 9.3.5 using Phoenix (ipa) & Sideloadly (exe windows)
2. With the Phoenix app installed, trust the app under Settings , General , Profile
3. Proceed with the jailbreak process with Phoenix
4. With Cydia, installed iFile
5. With iFile, head to System , Library , CoreServices , SystemVersion.plist
6. Edit this file specifically for :
— ProductVersion : to 6.0
— BuildNumber : to 10A406
(this is to trick Apple Server that this ipad mini is still at ios 6.0)
7. Reboot your device
8. Open Settings and check for updates. IOS 8.4.1 should be available for download and install away (the official way).
OTHER NOTES
To restore/downgrade other iOS 9.3.5/9.3.6 devices, with ProductVersion = 6.0, you may use the following build number instead :
For iPhone 4S: 10A403
For iPod Touch 5: 10A406
For iPad3: 10A403
