The rise of TSMC!Behind Apple’s push to push the M1 Ultra: Tech giants are betting on self-developed chips, and in the end they have to find TSMC for foundry, TSMC is the biggest winner | Apple Processor | Apple M1 Pro | Apple M1 Max | Apple M1 | TSMC OEM | Mac Chip

On the morning of March 11, Beijing time, in the past few years, large technology companies are increasing their investment in chip technology and promoting independent research and development. This trend could mean a broader adjustment in the global semiconductor industry. Apple co-founder Steve Jobs died more than 10 years ago, but still wields influence in the tech industry. Jobs once told other Apple executives to “forget” technology, no matter what’s going on inside the smartphone case and the main computer box, the only thing that matters to users is the amazing product and experience. Therefore, it is somewhat surprising to see Apple’s emphasis on the technical performance of its self-developed chips in recent product releases. Apple used its own processors when it launched the original iPad more than 10 years ago, but its chip prowess has only really unfolded since 2020, when it began replacing Intel processors with M1 chips in Macs. The original M1 chip brought a performance boost that demonstrated an ability to outperform the competition. Subsequently, Apple released two more powerful versions, the M1 Pro and M1 Max. This week, Apple showed how two M1 Max chips could be integrated into the M1 Ultra, providing computing power in a high-end workstation aimed at video editing professionals.
