In this video, I go through the process of restoring a 13″ Apple MacBook Air to its prior glory.
As you guys can tell, this 13″ Apple MacBook Air has not had a very good experience with their previous owner. As stated in the video, this MacBook Air was dropped off at my e-waste recycling center. Typically, when computers are recycled with us, we go ahead and test them to see how much can still be salvaged. As shown in previous videos. we would then go ahead and take them computer apart and save as many working parts as possible, all while properly recycling the remaining broken pieces.
In this specific case, I decided to take a different approach by showing you guys the other side of salvaging electronics; restoration. Here, we were able to salvage the logic board, flash storage, battery, ribbons as well as other smaller misc. items. After extracting said items, I was able to source a screen, topcase as well as bottom cover from two other 13″ Apple MacBook Airs that were parted out previously. Thankfully, my efforts were bot in vain as we were able to restore this 13″ Apple MacBook Air to its prior glory and save it from being decommissioned.
Although the prospect of restoring this 13″ Apple MacBook Air may have seamed pointless at first; I hope that seeing the final product will give a new outlook on what we can do with our old/broken tech!
