Apple launched its refreshed line of Mac computers: the MacBook Air, Mac Mini and 13 inch MacBook Pro earlier this week, featuring the new M1 chip.
We discuss the new devices, possible rationale for structuring the product line up as is, Apple’s chip architecture, and an outlook for the business. Apple made big claims on the day that are yet to be confirmed with through real world testing.
What was most interesting about this launch is that Apple chose to refresh existing machines instead of doing a redesign. This is likely a way to demonstrate the power of the M1 chip in the same body as current machines. That means consumers will be able to compare these machines side by side on the basis of performance and efficiency.
This was Apple’s “one more thing” for 2020.
