How to Downgrade iOS WITHOUT Erasing your iPhone

In this video, I go through how to downgrade your iPhone or iPad’s iOS version using a Windows or macOS PC. Whether you’re on a beta or are having issues with the newest release, this guide will assist in reverting back to an older version if you don’t have a backup in place.

NOTE: This walkthrough is for Windows. macOS is a similar process, but used applications may be different.

Written guild that I wrote on Reddit:
[On your device]

Go to Settings – General – VPN & Device Management – Delete the iOS Beta profile and restart.

[On Computer (I’ll be using a Windows machine in this example)]

So, go to ipsw.me, find your device and download the 15.3.1 IPSW file. (this comes directly from Apple’s servers). This will take forever, but how long forever is depends on internet speeds.

Once that’s done, connect your device and open iTunes.

In iTunes, click on your device in the left corner, by the dropdown for music and all that. Once on that page, hover over “Check for Update.” Holding down the SHIFT key, click on that button, that will open File Explorer. Go to where that IPSW file was saved at and click on it then click “Open.” iTunes will do it’s thing and revert iOS to 15.3.1. There may be a few glitches, but I doubt so since you’re only going back to a .X update, if it was a 16.0 to 15.0 jump, there is more risk (don’t ask how I know 😅).
