I was pretty let down when I found out that Apple was removing 32bit support from 10.15, but they did a lot of advertising about how it’s improved macOS to be lighter and faster, providing better performance and battery life. So I decided to put it to the test and every claim they made is false.
Apple is intentionally slowing down your old Macs with forced software updates.
macOS 11 wasn’t tested in this video, but performed even worse on my Macbook Pro.
Don’t upgrade your Mac. macOS 10.14 is the last macOS release to be fast and have all the features you could want, without compromising performance.
Block macOS Updates to 10.15 in terminal:
sudo softwareupdate –ignore “macOS Catalina”
Block macOS Updates to 11.x in terminal: (Only works on 10.14)
sudo softwareupdate –ignore “macOS Big Sur”
