According to a foreign media “Mac Rumores” report, the iOS version of the YouTube App will finally officially support picture-in-picture, but only for Premium subscription members.
As early as last year (2020), Apple built a Picture-in-Picture function for iOS 14, allowing users to watch videos while using other apps, but I don’t know why YouTube has not been released for iOS. Support picture-in-picture function.
Now the YouTube App finally brings the Picture-in-Picture to iOS and iPadOS. The original way to use Picture-in-Picture on the iPhone or iPad is limited to the Safari web version, but now you can directly use the native App to enable Picture-in-Picture.
It should be noted that currently only the Android and web versions of YouTube can use the picture-in-picture without subscribing to Premium members, and the background music playback function requires subscription to Premium members regardless of iOS or Android platforms.
The YouTube App for iOS and iPadOS versions has a native built-in picture-in-picture function that will be available in the United States from now on. Officials say it will gradually be launched in other regions around the world in the future.
