Intel's Rare $15 Unlocked Special Edition CPU Exclusive to China (and I broke it)

Almost 10 years ago, Intel needed something in response to AMD’s highly competitive dual core “black edition” Phenom processors. With the E5000 and E6000 series not quite filling that gap, the company decided to launch a special unlocked version of the Pentium, though it’s exclusivity to China made it pretty hard to come by.

Even when it did start appearing in user based reviews, some found that they couldn’t overclock it to the levels that they had expected, or had seen in certain benchmarking figures. This meant that in some cases it didn’t really offer much benefit over an E5000 series chip, but hey, the concept was pretty cool, and we’ve seen what Intel can really do with an unlocked Pentium when the G3258 released some years later.

Test Specs:
Intel Pentium E6500K Unlocked CPU
6GB DDR2 Memory
Asus P5NE-SLI Motherboard
GTX 1050 2GB
