New Chrome OS Start Menu for the Chromebook

Find out how to enable the new Chrome OS app launcher menu on your Chromebook. Until recently you would need to be in the developer channel. The good news is you can now start using this in the stable channel.

You need to enable a flag to use the new start menu on your Chromebook. Chrome OS flags are easy to enable and there isn’t anything you need to be too concerned about when using these.

This flag is pretty well developed, so you should not experience any issues. You can easily disable the flag if you wish if any problems occur.

I much prefer the new Chrome OS app launcher menu. Unlike the current menu, which takes up the whole display. The new menu is similar to what the Chromebook offered many years ago. It’s also similar to the Microsoft Windows start menu.

Another good thing about the new menu is not having to reorganise your apps. At the moment apps can be located all over the menu, and it can be a pain putting these in order. The new menu ensures no gaps between apps, and it gives you a much cleaner easier to use layout.
