Ever wondered what that ‘Intel Confidential’ means? It’s an engineering sample, or is it? In this video we cover the several stages of what it means to be an Intel Confidential CPU.

I got a 10700k from American retailer B&H at launch and it says Intel Confidential on it. I don’t remember what the spec on it is, it’s currently in use.
Intel Confidential is useless in HPE servers and likely on all branded servers as well. Also, next best thing to arrive to Intel server CPUs is a vendor locking and any 3rd party sourcing of them will be very shaky.
thanks for making a video about this
you're back!
I'm really enjoying your content. Learning a lot, and from a PhD tater 😁. That's awesome.
5220R is actually 24core, 5220 has just 18 cores
Are you daily driving surface studio laptop?
I been trying to cook up a sceame to get into starfleet with three dimensional chess so the robot lords will wax my surf board.
Can you do this with AMD CPU too ?
Thanks, another interesting episode.
It seems like the background is more in focus than you. Anyways, I enjoyed your explanation of Intel engineering samples and appreciate the time stamps. The first AMD ZEN silicon sounds really interesting. I'd like to hear more about that first ZEN A0 silicon and why it had to run cold.
Fair to assume QS’s don’t ever receive or rarely receive microcode updates to deal with vulnerabilities. Also confused on 5220R – Xeon Gold 5220R is a 24 core chip per ARK.
So, my daily driver desktop is a used Dell Precision 5820 workstation running an Intel Xeon W-2140B QMVZ– a "qualification sample" for a CPU designed to run on the 27 inch iMac Pro. It works perfectly and I got it for $110 on eBay. It is even Windows 11 compatible.
I bought what was meant to be an 18 core broadwell xeon that shows up as low clock 8 core cpu. I assumed it was just a fake, but from what you're saying could it just be my motherboard?
6 extra cores you mean?
Oh man, looking forward to that interview with Mike. Imagine needing a chiller to test a CPU…
Can't help but feel some curious timing on this video… What with all of the Alder Lake chips floating about?
sneaky shadowban test comment
Intel should 'recall' all chips for april fools and watch everyone squirm.
I want your tee shirt. The C-64 was the best computer I had until I bought a Core 2 Duo MacBook.
Had a lot QS cpu's, and some ES, currently have two i9-7920X QS QHN9
i love that Intel allowing or not fighting against ES/QS cpu sales, which can be found for cheap price
Your background is one big IKEA placement. They should sponsor you.
Can you do a video covering Intel Alderlake CPU?
My minimum specification at the moment is an 8700K and 3090
Bintel
Hi Ian! Do you have by any chance any info about Alder lake ATX12VO motherboards and power supplies? I know there was talk about this long time ago, but now when the launch is quite near, I literaly cant find anything. No announcement, no leaks, nothing. It almost looks like as if it was cancelled completely.
…. I definitely don't have one of those… Definitely don't
