If you have an aging Samsung smartphone or tablet then you may notice it randomly bug out from time to time. This can be expressed in glitchy lag and stutters but can also be bugs that stop the phone from working the way it’s supposed to.

If that’s happened to you then try and think about the last time you restarted the device.

This is less useful for brand new devices like the Galaxy S21 series but has been shown to benefit older units like the Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S9 phones.

Samsung knows the benefit of this so much that they have baked in an auto restart feature right into their OneUI firmware.

So, if you notice this happening fairly often then I recommend you set up this feature so it’s done in the background while you’re sleeping.

If you can’t find the feature in Settings – Device Care – Automation then simply do a search for the word “restart” to see where the option is currently hiding.

Not all OEMs have included this feature into their ROM but the ones who have seem to be praised by the community for their efforts.

This isn’t a feature that everyone will prefer to use, but it’s great for the ones who actively need this troubleshooting step.
