Due to Huawei’s difficult situation, the global and Chinese smartphone markets have undergone considerable changes in the fourth quarter of 2020.

According to Counterpoint data, Apple ranked first in the world with 81.9 million shipments, while Huawei fell out of the top five in the quarter, shipping 33 million units down 41% year-on-year.

In China, Lu Weibing shared a report from Strategic Analytics. The results showed that Huawei (combined glory) had a total shipment of 19 million units, a share of 21.3%, but a year-on-year decline of nearly 43%.

For this kind of performance, as the general manager of Xiaomi China, Lu Weibing said frankly that “Although it has increased by 45% year-on-year, it ranks only 5th. We still need to continue to work hard.”

With the complete separation of Huawei and Honor, starting from the first quarter of next year, the global and Chinese smartphone markets may face a new reshuffle situation. The quarterly shipments of the Huawei brand may even be less than 10 million units.
