On March 3, blogger Wisdom Pikachu broke the news that Huawei Mate X3 and P60 series will be released in March, both of which will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ 4G chip, while Huawei Mate 60 series will be equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chip. Not surprisingly, the Mate 60 series uses the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 4G.
Compared with the 5G version, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 4G cuts off the 5G baseband, and the key parameters such as CPU and GPU will be consistent with the 5G version. Specifically, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 CPU part adopts a new 1+4+3 eight-core architecture, including a super-large core Kryo Prime core (based on Cortex-X3) running at 3.2GHz to provide high single-thread performance.
There are also four performance cores running at 2.8GHz for better handling of multi-threaded workloads. Finally, there are three efficiency cores clocked at 2.0GHz. In terms of energy efficiency, compared with the previous generation platform, the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 has a 40% increase in CPU energy efficiency, and a 45% reduction in Adreno GPU power consumption.
In addition to being equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen2 4G, another highlight of the Huawei Mate 60 series is the support for satellite communications. This feature has been commercially launched on the Mate 50 series. This is the industry’s first mass smartphone that supports Beidou satellite news.
