So I’ve had my laptop for about 7 years now and I have cleaned it from dust before but never a reapplication of thermal paste for the GPU and CPU. So that’s what I did! (Along with a thorough dust clean up) My laptop was slowing down (thermal throttling) even when gaming lightly or using mildly demanding apps. My dad had some thermal paste left from a previous repaste on another system from a few years back, so I decided to experiment to see if it would have a similar improvement compared to new thermal paste!
It seems that new thermal paste may bring even cooler temperatures, however this old thermal paste was still MUCH better than what was left from 7 years back during manufacturing lol.
This is a G750JZ laptop with an i7 4700HQ and GTX 880m. I was able to drop the temperatures by 25°C-30°C!
