Last week Google announced the first developer preview of Android 14. We should see the first beta released around April of this year, and then the final, stable version landing around sometime in August or September.
This update comes with a number of changes including optimizations for big-screen devices, battery optimizations, accessibility improvements, and some added security layers.
While Google Pixel smartphones are the first to receive this update, there are way more Samsung Galaxy devices in the wild. I understand that many people are looking forward to this update so I wanted to shed some light on when Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets are slated to receive this update.
Galaxy S Series
Samsung’s Galaxy S series are considered to be its flagship and they are currently working on its Android 14 update right now. So if you own the Galaxy S23 Ultra, Galaxy S23+, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22+, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21 FE, Galaxy S21 Ultra, Galaxy S21+, or Galaxy S21 then you are guaranteed to get this update.
Samsung Galaxy Z Series
If you have become a folding phone enthusiast, then you may be happy to hear that the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, and Galaxy Z Flip 3 are all scheduled to be receiving the Android 14 update.
Samsung Galaxy A Series
The Galaxy A series from Samsung has become incredibly popular due to the performance it has been able to achieve at the price point they are available at. And when these devices were released, we learned that the Galaxy A73, Galaxy A72
Galaxy A53, Galaxy A52 (A52 5G, A52s), Galaxy A33, Galaxy A23, Galaxy A14, Galaxy A13, and Galaxy A04s will be getting updated to Android 14.
Samsung Galaxy M Series
The company’s M series phones have also gained a bit of steam over the years and it has been revealed that the Galaxy M53 5G, Galaxy M33 5G, and Galaxy M23 will all be getting an OTA update for Android 14 when it becomes available.
Galaxy Xcover Series
The Galaxy Xcover series hasn’t sold many, but it’s still highly regarded by those who are using it as their daily driver. Right now, we know that the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro is going to get the update to Android 14.
Galaxy Tab Series
Samsung makes some of the best Android tablets on the market today and I know many people are wondering if their device is going to be getting updated to Android 14. While this list could be expanded in the future, right now we can expect the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 ot be receiving this update.
Sadly, we don’t have an exact day that we should expect to see Samsung push out the Android 14 update to the smartphones and tablets mentioned in this video. But I can all but guarantee that the Galaxy S23 series will be getting the new update first. I wouldn’t even be surprised if we saw the first stable build of Android 14 released before the holiday season. Especially since Google has already begun testing it.
We know that Google works closely with the biggest smartphone OEMs when it comes to developing the Android OS. So with the company releasing the first developer preview, Samsung has certainly already begun testing it internally. We should even hear about Samsung’s first beta release sometime this year as well.
