A few days ago, the leaker @OnLeaks released a series of spy photos of Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. He accidentally found that there is no physical SIM card slot on the side of the fuselage, which attracted foreign media attention. Only the eSIM version of the phone is issued.
Google has currently tested the eSIM card transfer tool on the Android 14 system. According to the screenshot released by the developer AssembleDebug, in the future, you only need to scan the QR code to transfer the original eSIM card number to the new mobile phone, no longer need to contact the telecommunications provider.
Due to regulations in Taiwan, although the iPhone has already launched eSIM transfer service, the telecom operators have not yet supported it. If the public wants to change their mobile phone with an eSIM card, they have to pay a handling fee of 300 yuan. If Apple and Google want to launch pure eSIM mobile phones in Taiwan in the future, I am afraid that they still need the assistance of relevant units to solve the problem.
