The Apple iPhone 15 series is expected to be unveiled on September 13, and the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 are expected to debut simultaneously. Bloomberg recently pointed out that the Apple Watch Series 9 will incorporate 3D printing technology for the first time.
According to Bloomberg, according to people familiar with the matter, Apple is testing 3D printing technology to produce the steel chassis of the Apple Watch Series 9, which also means that Apple’s product manufacturing methods will undergo major changes, no longer need to cut large pieces of metal The shape of the finished product, thereby increasing the production speed and reducing the impact on the environment.
It is understood that the new technology used by Apple is called “Binder Jetting” (Binder Jetting), which can print the overall outline close to the actual size. A process that uses heat and pressure to compress the material into a chassis that feels close to traditional steel, which is then precisely engineered and cutouts milled as in the previous process.
However, not all Apple Watch Series 9 chassis use 3D printing technology. It is expected that only the stainless steel version will be tried first, and the Apple Watch Ultra 2 will have to wait until next year. If Apple’s test goes well, it will expand to more Apple products in the future.
Well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed the news as early as last month, but he believes that some titanium mechanical parts on the Apple Watch Ultra 2 body will be made by 3D printing, which is slightly different from Bloomberg.
