Apple has completely replaced the USB-C port on iPhone 15 this year, bringing a series of functions through common specifications with Android and mainstream electronic products, not only charging and transferring data! Apple explains in detail the 6 major uses in its latest official support document.

Charging, file transfer

Continuing the function of Lightning, the main job of USB-C is of course charging and transferring files. Apple points out that the iPhone 15 can be used with USB-C charging of more than 20W to achieve fast charging. In addition, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can purchase an additional USB 3 cable to support 10Gbps high-speed transmission.

Charge accessories

The iPhone 15 can directly charge AirPods and Apple Watch via wires. Apple confirmed that the power is 4.5W. You only need to connect USB-C directly to the watch charger or AirPods charging box. If it is a product with Lightning connector, an adapter is required.

Headphone plug

USB-C can also be used directly as a headphone jack. Apple will simultaneously launch a USB-C version of EarPods wireless headphones at the press conference, or it can connect to 3.5mm headphones through an adapter.

External monitor (HDMI and DisplayPort)

The iPhone will support placing the screen head on a large screen and connecting to a screen with HDMI specifications through the additional purchase of a “USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter”. In addition, the iPhone 15 also supports the DisplayPort protocol and can be connected to a 4K, 60Hz image quality screen via USB-C, but a USB 3.1 or higher transmission cable is required.

Compatible with many USB-C accessories

Apple further confirmed that the iPhone 15’s USB-C is not a proprietary specification and will be able to work with CarPlay car systems, external storage devices, displays, microphones, power banks, USB-C Ethernet adapters, and SD card adapters Common to other products.
