The first unboxing of the Apple iPhone 15 series has officially been released. Many YouTubers and foreign media have disclosed the test results. The performance of the A17 Pro chip, which is the first to use TSMC’s 3nm process, seems to be not as good as expected. Joeman, a YouTuber who unboxed the first wave in Taiwan, said bluntly: “A little disappointed. ”, thinking that game performance is only about 50% better than Android.

Joeman’s actual measurement shows the Geekbench 6 CPU performance of the iPhone 15 Pro. The multi-core score of the A17 Pro is 7223 and the single-core score is 2908. Both scores are clearly ahead of the Android camp’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (multi-core 5748/single-core 2015). Leading by as much as 31%, showing that the iPhone is still the top in the industry in terms of CPU.

Switching to a GPU related to “game experience” will have different results. In the GFXBench test, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 leads the A17 Pro at 61 frames per second at 59.9. In another 3DMark test, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 also slightly surpassed the A17 Pro’s 3633 points and 75.5% stability with 3655 points and 76% stability.

Joeman admitted in the video that as a relatively late processor, the test results of the A17 Pro made him a little disappointed. Compared with the Android camp, Apple did not lead by a large margin, even in the fifth wave, but overall it was still very strong. The processor and the game performance that supports MetalFX are better than playing traditional mobile games.

The Chinese self-media “Geek Bay” mentioned in the test video that although the CPU performance of the A17 Pro is the same as the officially announced 10% and significantly ahead of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, it has a relatively higher peak power consumption of 42.6%. The battery life performance has also declined, and many GPU data have been surpassed by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is believed that A17 Pro does not reflect the advantages of TSMC’s 3nm process technology.
