Google Pixel mobile phones are very popular in Japan and have now become Japan’s largest Android mobile phone brand. Although there is still a long way to go compared to Apple’s iPhone, the growing market share has more or less put pressure on Apple.
According to a Japanese channel survey, among the Google Pixel series mobile phones, the most popular model among Japanese is currently the Pixel 7a. Perhaps due to factors such as exchange rates, Google has recently quietly increased the price of the Pixel 7a in Japan. The original price was 62,700 yen (tax included, approximately NT$13,475), but now it has been increased to 69,300 yen (tax included, approximately NT$14,894), an increase of 11%.
However, Google only adjusted the Japanese price for Pixel 7a, and other products such as Pixel 7 and 7 Pro did not make any changes, causing the outside world to laugh and say that “they are all selling too well.” For reference, the Taiwan Pixel 7a price is 14,990 yuan.

In addition, the newly launched Pixel 8 series is expected to be affected by the high price increase, and the initial purchase enthusiasm in Japan is not as enthusiastic as that of the previous generation. Observe the latest best-selling mobile phone rankings of BCN in Japan (October 23, 2023 to October 2023 29th), none of the Pixel 8 series entered the top 10 best-selling Android phones. On the other hand, the NTT docomo, au, and SoftBank versions of Pixel 7a all entered the TOP 10.
