The latest report from foreign media Wearable pointed out that Google has obtained a new patent technology related to smart watch devices in October this year, requesting the use of a sensor module system called “strain gauges” to embed the module in Behind the inside of the smart watch, the frame of the watch case can be equipped with a sensing function and touch interface that can detect changes in different forces.
When your fingers perform specific command gestures such as “press”, “squeeze”, “slide” or “tap” on the frame of the watch case, you can quickly perform interactive control functions without touching the surface screen, such as: Surface screen zoom, music playback, opening specific applications, etc. In addition, the interactive control method brought by this new patented technology is expected to replace the design of the physical digital crown, thereby making the smart watch have better waterproof performance.

Although the patented technology is obtained, it does not mean that it will be used in actual products soon. However, with the exposure of the contents of the patent document, the outside world has also seen Google’s R&D strength and innovative technology thinking invested in smart watch devices.
I would like to add that the above-mentioned “squeeze touch” function of Goole’s new patented technology is used in smart watch devices for the first time, but before that, similar functions were actually used as early as May 2017.
