Apple once again faces a class action lawsuit from consumers! If you want to back up data for iPhone and iPad, you can usually only choose Apple’s iCloud service. However, the official only gives each user 5GB of free capacity and does not allow switching to other backup platforms. This move caused dissatisfaction among users and led to a lawsuit. Went to U.S. court.

According to “Bloomberg” reports, someone has filed a class action lawsuit, accusing Apple of manipulating the competitive environment of cloud services. It said that Apple device users can get 5GB of free iCloud storage space. However, most users find that this is not enough to meet their needs, and most of them have to buy more on their own. The problem with iCloud capacity is that Apple allows consumers to back up videos and photos through Google Drive, Sync.com, and pCloud, but only iCloud can back up device settings and App data.

The plaintiff points out that Apple forces users to purchase iCloud capacity by eliminating options. Simply put, if iPhone or iPad users want to back up and store specific files, iCloud is the only option. They believe that this restriction does not have any reasonable technical and security considerations. The reason is just to reduce competition and make iCloud products better than other cloud services.

In recent years, apart from the most famous case of battery gate, which was later settled with US$500 million (approximately 15.7 billion yuan), Apple has faced class action lawsuits including iPhone analysis of privacy settings, Apple Book e-books, App Store and other services.
