No need to pay extra to upgrade?Apple’s new iPhone is rumored to bid farewell to 128GB capacity for one reason

In recent years, Apple’s most entry-level iPhone models have only provided 128GB of storage capacity. In the past, many users have complained that it is not far enough and can only spend a little more money to upgrade to 256GB. However, in this year’s iPhone 16 series, Apple may fully embrace AI. Say goodbye to 128GB.

Revegnus, a tipster, recently cited a survey by a Korean research institute, pointing out that in order for Apple to enable the iPhone 16 to perform AI functions natively, it will have to increase the RAM and storage space of the device. Sources indicate that Apple is studying the use of NAND flash memory instead of RAM to run AI technology, so the iPhone 16 may have to increase both storage space and RAM capacity.

So-called NAND flash memory in smartphones is like a computer hard drive, specifically providing storage capacity. Therefore, Revegnus believes that Apple may switch to 256GB as the starting capacity for the new iPhone 16 series and no longer provide 128GB. At the same time, due to the increase in AI computing, it may also be imperative to change to 8GB RAM. However, Revegnus also emphasized that there is currently no relevant evidence that Apple will fully equip the iPhone 16 with 256GB of storage space.

In fact, Apple removed the 128GB model for the first time in the iPhone 15 Pro Max, only providing a minimum of 256GB, but it also relatively raised the entry barrier. For comparison, the general Android camp has a starting storage space of 256GB.
