Attention, Apple iPhone 12 users, if you have not updated to iOS 17.4, now is the time to upgrade, because Apple has a hidden surprise that is not mentioned, that is, after the update, wireless charging can support Qi2 15W.
Qi2 is a new wireless charging standard, launched based on Apple’s Magsafe technology. iPhone 15 is the first mobile phone to support Qi2, providing a 15W wireless charging speed. Apple added support for Qi2 to iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 through the iOS 17.2 update last year. However, iPhone 12 has become the only model that supports MagSafe but has not been upgraded to Qi2.
In other words, the iPhone 12 can only achieve 15W wireless charging speed through MagSafe. If a third-party wireless charger without MagSafe certification is used, it can only provide a maximum speed of 7.5W, while Qi2 can fully reach 15W.
Foreign media discovered that once the iPhone 12 was upgraded to iOS 17.4, it actually quietly added support for Qi2, which increased the wireless charging speed, and this result was confirmed after actual testing. Although Apple did not clarify this matter, it is recommended that iPhone 12 users update to enjoy faster wireless charging speeds.
