Tesla is one of the most innovative companies in the world
Their most recent figures have revealed to investors the direction that the organisation is heading in

It all began with Giga Navada… but now texas, berlin and shang hai currently in the works, the capabilities to create gigafactories has improved tenfold since the first in Navada, in 2014.
The construction back then took 2 years to complete, whereas the most recent factory in shanghai has taken only 10 months for the first stage to be complete – that’s 58% times less time to build than Navada … not to mention it cost 65% less
This just demonstrates the incredible progression in efficiency, using precast concrete elements – it’s expected that the gigafactory in berlin will be complete in only 11 months and texas is estimated to have the first stages complete by May 2021… around 10 months from the beginning of construction.
The acceleration of construction times is one thing, but when you take into consideration the enormous increase in their production rates and output. With Panasonic, a gigafactory has an estimated output of 150 gigawat hours, with telsas vertical intergration into batteries, a tesla factory has an output of 1,000 gigawat hours … or one terrawat hour
This means that teslas production numbers are about to increase exponentially – Elon musk has set a goal of 20 million deliveries by 2030.
This might seem unrealistic, but if you consider the huge increases in efficiency from the gigafactories, you can begin to see how he can achieve this.
This is too much for wallstreet … they do not understand this. They are about to be left behind when this plays out over the next five years.
Now that we understand the rate of teslas production is about to hit a new level of growth, lets go on a tour of the incredible machineary behind this growth, their recent improvments, and the driving force behind the growth.

Firstly, the machine will take a single sheet of steel and press it, in order to fit the shape needed. In a matter of seconds, an entire bodypart of the car is made. The larger the part, the faster production will be. Simplifying this process is vital for speeding up the production process can be. This typical casting machine is from an audi factory. Now, compare that to teslas.

They have the largest casting machine ever made – the Model why giga casting machine.
By illuminating 79 parts of the car, this saves 40% of the cost of the rear underbody, compared to the previous model three. At the gigafactory in berlin, the underbody of the new model will be made with just one piece of steel – rather than 70. This is the revolution that the car industry needed. With this addition of teslas roadrunner sales at berlin, the model y will have 370 fewer parts and a 10% mass reduction soley as a result of the gigafactories progression and innovations. Yet believe it or not, none of these production revolutions come close to what is about to happen at the texas gigafactory with the cyber truck.
With the cyber truck, the entire vehicles exoskeleton will be made from one sheet of steel. Just imagine this for a second. Typically, vehicle production lines have to create and assemble thousands of parts to create the body of a car… compare that to ONE vehicle, that requires ONE huge casting vehicle
This is SO important because not only will teslas margins hugely increase, but the output will be huge. This is why gigafactory texas will have a higher output than any other gigafactory in history.

Take a look at the brand new vehicle from GM. They have recently announced it – it’s the Hummer E.V. Yes it looks awesome but it comes with a huge pricetag, which isn’t even comparible to the cyber truck from Tesla. When comparing the two 250 mile range vehicles, the Hummer costs 2x more at a price of $80,000. Not only that, but the delivery dates are also miles apart. The hummer will be available from 2024, whereas the cyber truck will be available in 2022.
The forward thinking and focus on efficienty has prepelled teslas gigafactory to be far superior to others. Casting machines are just one example of a huge revolution in this process. We haven’t even begun on additive manufacturing yet.

Additive manufacturing is better known as 3D printing, and the process has endless potential for powering the next decade. Elon himself has recognised that this manufacturing is still too costly for car production, but it can rapidly create the tooling to accelerate pace of innovation. He goes on to say, that it is already sensible for rocket engine parts … referencing his space mission spaceX…
