The brilliant engineering behind TESLA’s Model 3 motor

Engineers at Tesla Motors chose a surprising design when developing the Tesla Model 3. They did not use the commonly used certified induction motors and replaced it with a new type of motor, the ipmsynrm. These motors have a completely different design, and use both magnetic and reluctance action.
