– It was only a year ago that @Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Fold. And despite all the first generation kinks, the first Galaxy Fold captured the imagination of phone geeks. We finally got our hands on the latest incarnation of Samsung’s folding smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is here in Canada, and we’re giving you a first look at what it’s like to unbox a $2779 CAD smartphone.
As the name says, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 is a 5G folding smartphone that turns into a glorious 7.6″ tablet display. Improvements to the screen have made it less likely to crease or peel, and the company has painstakingly added additional warnings to keep reviewers from trying to peel the screen away. The front screen is also improved. It’s now 6.2″ and covers the entirety of the phone, whereas the original Galaxy Fold left huge margins at the top and bottom of the screen. Front-facing cameras are all 10MP, and all main cameras, from the wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto are 12MP.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is also faster than before, sporting 12GBs of RAM and 256GBs of storage, and runs on the same processor as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+. All of this is supported by a massive 4500mAh battery that is split between the two sides.
