What is Starlink? Will it impact your life? Why is SpaceX working on an internet program? Let’s talk about that!
In this video, we discuss SpaceX Starlink Program. The Starlink program is SpaceX approach to providing high-speed broadband internet to most of the world. We discuss how internet providers work now, including cable internet and satellite internet. We then look at how satellite internet works and understand what some of the disadvantages are. From there we look at how SpaceX is in a great opportunity to provide this service, as an active launch provider.
We take a look at some other companies that are doing the same thing, these being OneWeb, Amazon, and Telesat. By understanding each of these companies, and the plans for the future, we see how SpaceX launches of the Falcon 9, and reusability helps them with the Starlink Project.
Finally, we look at some of the concerns people have with mega-constellations, including engineers, astronomers, and policymakers. These concerns include the Satellite trails impacting measurements from ground-based telescopes, the increase in satellites will also increase space debris, and the thousands of satellites could lead to collisions with other spacecraft.
