Lei Jun introduced that the CUP (Camera Under Panel) full screen of Mi MIX 4 is a creative process from scratch. The project was established in 2018. More than 100 engineers have participated in research and development in 3 years, invested more than 500 million, have applied for 60 invention patents, and obtained more than 40 patent certifications, including different schemes from AA area to transition area to CUP area, high transparency Over-rate screen design, high-resolution screen design, low-level software self-developed algorithm, under-screen proactive module and algorithm optimization, etc.
According to Lei Jun, the cost of the CUP full screen is equivalent to two flexible screens, that is, a micro-curved AMOLED and a transparent screen with a micro-diamond array of 400PPI seamlessly connected together.
Regarding the cost, Lei Jun said he also spent a lot of money to develop ultra-light ceramics, the cost is 5 to 6 times that of ordinary glass back cover. In order to suppress the heat generation of the Snapdragon 888 Plus, the graphene soaking plate has also been innovated and customized. Lei Jun said that temperature control is one of the top priorities of the Xiaomi MIX4.
There are indications that the price of Xiaomi MIX4 will not be very low, and it may start at more than 5,000 yuan.
