New vehicles are starting to come with wireless support for Apple CarPlay. It’s so much more convenient to get connected without wires. But for those in older vehicles without wireless support, we’ve found a solution for you, and it works pretty well.
The CPLAY2air is a solution that plugs into the USB port in your car. It then wirelessly connects to your iPhone to provide a completely wireless Apple Carplay connection. That means you don’t need to fumble for that lightning cable to get your navigation and podcasts to play through your Apple CarPlay compatible infotainment system.
In a nutshell, the CPLAY2air connects to your infotainment system, and when you pair the iPhone to the CPLAY2air. There are some quirks in the setup, but the solutions are pretty quick to work around them. There are options to further tweak the connection if you wish.
What’s nice about solutions like the CPLAY2air is that it overcomes a pet peeve that many vehicle owners have experienced with the wireless charging pads built in their vehicles. When you plug the cable into your iPhone to connect to your infotainment system, that cable will keep your iPhone from charging on the wireless pad. By doing away with the charging cable, your iPhone can charge and connect to Apple CarPlay at the same time. How cool is that?
