According to an official memo obtained by the foreign media “Mac Rumors” from Apple, it shows that starting today (12/13), both the official Apple Store and authorized repairers will get a new AirPods Pro firmware update tool that can help repairers Update the latest firmware of AirPods.
Usually AirPods update the firmware normally through the paired iPhone, directly download the update file and install it. The whole process runs in the background without manual operation, but for some AirPods users who do not have an iPhone, or there is a system error , If the AirPods Pro is not successfully updated to the latest version of the firmware, it can be handed over to the maintenance personnel to use the official tool to upgrade.

“Mac Rumors” pointed out that the repair tool is marked in the Apple memo as an AirPods Pro that supports a wireless charging box (or Magsafe version). It is not clear whether the tool can be a normal AirPods or the latest AirPods 3.
However, as of now, this firmware upgrade tool is still only available to official repairers or authorized repairers, and ordinary users cannot download, buy or use it by themselves. They have to go to an authorized retail store to solve it.
