MIX Alpha Evolution Edition!Xiaomi’s new surround screen patent exposure: the top and bottom are screens

In 2019, Xiaomi released a new concept phone MIX Alpha, bringing a new form of future mobile phone screens-surround screen. However, in 2020, Lei Jun stated that MIX Alpha is a pre-research project, and mass production is too difficult and has been abandoned.

Although MIX Alpha has been difficult to give birth, Xiaomi did not give up on the road to surround screen. A few days ago, Xiaomi’s patent for a surround screen with a pop-up camera solution was just exposed. Now, another surround screen patent has come.

According to LetsGoDigital, the patent was filed by Xiaomi on November 25, 2019 to the State Intellectual Property Office, and it was granted on January 1, 2021. It is worth mentioning that the patent has different design schemes, but the main difference lies in the design of the camera and the curvature of the upper and lower screens.

From the perspective of the patent picture, unlike the Xiaomi MIX Alpha’s screen design that extends around the left and right sides of the fuselage, the new patent surrounds the fuselage up and down.

In addition, there are separate screens on the left and right sides of the fuselage, without physical buttons. Since this is only a design patent, it is not clear whether the screens on the left and right sides of the fuselage support virtual buttons.

The new patented camera module is also different from the vertical design of the Mi MIX Alpha, but a horizontal design, with three-camera and four-camera options. The three-camera solution does not seem to have a flash. In addition to the flash, the four-camera solution seems to have a sensor.

In addition, the patent contains two different arc schemes. One scheme has a larger upper and lower arc and is approximately elliptical. The other scheme has a smaller arc and approximates a circle.

Of course, it is not clear whether the models in the patent will be listed. After all, the Xiaomi MIX Alpha has not been put on sale in the end.
