Samsung released ISOCELL GN2 sensor: 100 million pixel output, 1/1.12 ultra-large bottom

After the popularity of the ISOCELL GN1 sensor, Samsung today released the ISOCELL GN2 sensor. This is a 50 million pixel sensor, but it can output 100 million pixels, and the size of 1/1.12 inches is currently the largest.

The native pixel of ISOCELL GN2 is 50 million and the size is 1.4um. It can also be a four-in-one pixel in a low light environment and become a 2.8um super-large pixel to improve the light sensitivity, thereby taking brighter night scene photos.

For high-pixel occasions, ISOCELL GN2 also provides a 100 million pixel output function. The intelligent mosaic algorithm rearranges the pixels to create three independent layers of red, green and blue 50 million pixels to achieve 100 million ultra-high pixels for easy cutting.

In terms of focusing, ISOCELL GN2 is Samsung’s first sensor that supports Dual Pixel Pro (dual pixel enhancement) technology. Each pixel can be divided into two halves, using phase difference autofocus.

Dual pixel enhancement technology can also be combined with four-in-one pixel technology. ISOCELL GN2 is also the first sensor that supports two technologies at the same time, allowing fast focusing in any scene.

In other respects, the ISOCELL GN2 sensor also supports interlaced HDR, Smart ISO, and Smart ISO Pro. The latter can increase the sensitivity to 1 million levels and greatly increase the brightness of night scenes. A new generation of night vision devices is on the scene.

In terms of video, ISOCELL GN2 also supports 4K 120fps, 1080p 480fps shooting, which enhances the playability of mobile video.

Samsung said that the ISOCELL GN2 sensor is in mass production, but the official did not disclose the first company to adopt the ISOCELL GN2 sensor. There are reports that Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 11 Ultra will be launched.
