The competition among mobile phone manufacturers is still fierce. One of the most important manifestations is that the price of mobile phones equipped with the flagship chip Snapdragon 888 has been beaten to less than 3,000 yuan.
According to the latest news, Qualcomm is developing a cheaper Snapdragon 888 chip, which is to make this type of new machine cheaper, perhaps not more than 2,000 yuan, or even 1,500 yuan.
It is reported that the new version of Snapdragon 888 is code-named SM8325, which will come without an integrated 5G modem, which should reduce the price of the entire SoC package of Qualcomm’s partners. If there is no integrated modem, mobile phone manufacturers will not need to add components such as mmWave antennas in specific areas of the smartphone, otherwise it will increase the cost of equipment manufacturers.
More importantly, when there is no so-called 5G baseband, mobile phone companies do not need to spend additional resources to design these phones in a way that optimizes cooling so that the chipset and 5G modem can operate at the best level.
The non-5G version of Snapdragon 888 will be used for mobile phones sold in regions where 5G has not been promoted or deployed at a slow speed. This Snapdragon 888 can still connect to the LTE network, but users will not be able to experience the high-level bandwidth brought by 5G.
