Huawei: HMS has become the world’s third largest mobile application ecosystem, with 2.3 million global developers

In early 2020, Huawei officially released HMS (Huawei Mobile Services) in overseas markets to replace the lack of Google GMS.

The original launch of HMS was only due to the constraints of Google. However, through more than a year of unremitting efforts, Huawei not only made HMS survive successfully, it even became the third largest mobile application ecosystem in the world.

On the afternoon of March 31, Huawei held an online press conference and announced its 2020 annual results, which showed that Huawei’s global sales revenue in 2020 was 891.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%; cash flow from operating activities was 35.2 billion yuan, basically in line with expectations.

It is worth mentioning that Hu Houkun, Huawei’s rotating chairman, said: “HMS has become the world’s third largest mobile application ecosystem in 2020. At the end of 2020, there are 2.3 million registered developers worldwide, including 300,000 overseas and more than 120,000 extended applications. “

According to data previously released by Huawei, as of December last year, HMS had covered 500 million monthly active users in 170 countries and regions.

Earlier news broke that at least one domestic mobile phone brand (not Honor) will launch a mobile phone with HMS Core pre-installed as a backup when Google GMS fails.

This also proves that more and more people recognize Huawei’s HMS. I believe that more domestic brands will join in in the future. This will also provide a strong backing for my country’s smartphones and other industries, and there is no need to be afraid of facing Google, etc. Restrictions of foreign giants.

In addition, in terms of systems, Huawei also stated that HarmonyOS has attracted more than 20 hardware vendors and 280 application vendors to participate in ecological construction.

In the next step, Huawei will focus on the Hongmeng OS operating system on the mobile phone, bringing a true self-developed operating system.
