That has been a question that has gnawed at the hearts of companies and space organizations for the fifty years after the first Moon landing.
Now, we have the answer as the world once again heads to the moon, NASA and SpaceX are the leaders. The combination of two generations dominating the space industry is opening a door to bring people closer to the mystical universe.

NASA is getting ready to send astronauts to explore more of the Moon as part of the Artemis program, and the agency has selected SpaceX to continue the development of the first commercial human lander. It is designed as a version of the Starship, SpaceX’s flagship rocket was being developed for Elon’s vision of making it to Mars.
Announced in 2017 under the Trump administration, “Artemis” aims to return U.S. astronauts to the lunar surface in 2024 for the first time since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972, including landing the first woman and the first person of color on the Moon.
The Artemis space missions are focused on lunar exploration, but NASA’s long-term goals are even more ambitious.
Using the capabilities, technology, and research developed during the Artemis spaceflights and landings, NASA intends to launch a future crewed mission to Mars.
This ambitious NASA ‘Moon to Mars’ plan involves building a new space station in lunar orbit and, eventually, a habitable Moonbase.
Regarding the Artemis base camp mission, its highlight is the establishment of a settlement that will help with deeper space missions, especially NASA and SpaceX’s Mars conquests.
As Kathy Lueders, associate administrator for human spaceflight at NASA Headquarters in Washington said, “With more demand for access to the Moon, we are developing the technologies to achieve an unprecedented human and robotic presence 240,000 miles from home. Our experience on the Moon this decade will prepare us for an even greater adventure in the universe – human exploration of Mars.”
