Apple’s new generation of iPhone 14 uses Qualcomm Snapdragon X65 5G data chip, and iPhone 13 is X60. Has the 5G performance of iPhone 14 been upgraded?

SpeedSmart conducted the test, comparing the iPhone 14 Pro with the iPhone 13 Pro, and the two major US telcos T-Mobile and Verizon. The results show that although the upload speed has only improved slightly, the 5G download speed of the iPhone 14 Pro is 38% faster than the previous generation on T-Mobile and 32% faster on Verizon, which can be said to be an upgrade.

SpeedSmart to test.

  • iPhone 14 Pro (download T-Mobile): 255.91 Mbps
  • iPhone 13 Pro (download T-Mobile): 173.81 Mbps
  • iPhone 14 Pro (upload on T-Mobile): 28.25 Mbps
  • iPhone 13 Pro (uploaded to T-Mobile): 22.51 Mbps
  • iPhone 14 Pro (download Verizon): 175.56 Mbps
  • iPhone 13 Pro (download Verizon): 126.33 Mbps
  • iPhone 14 Pro (upload on Verizon): 27.28 Mbps
  • iPhone 13 Pro (upload on Verizon): 21.64 Mbps

SpeedSmart said that from the test, Apple’s new machine also showed the advantage of lower network latency. Lower latency means that the device takes less time to communicate with the server, which is very important for live broadcasts and online games.

Looking at the numbers, the average latency (Ping) of the iPhone 14 Pro to T-Mobile was 52.88ms and the average latency (Ping) to Verizon was 37.09ms; the iPhone 13 Pro was 62.20ms and 52.24ms, respectively.
