New Tesla Model 3 Is Becoming Dangerously Unstoppable

The Tesla Model 3 added another feather to its hat by being the best-selling automobile in the United Kingdom in September. Amid more intensified rivalry in the electric car industry, the Model 3 remains one of the best EVs in the world. According to recent data, the Tesla Model 3 received the newest car registrations in the United Kingdom in September. According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT), 71,566 new electric cars were registered in the month, representing a 137 percent rise year over year. The Tesla Model 3 accounted for 6,879 of these, making it the month’s biggest sale. As per fresh data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, the UK’s motor industry trade group, the Model 3 has dethroned every automobile in the country, regardless of engine. Not only did Tesla’s mass-market sedan maintain its widely acknowledged first-place position in EV rankings, but this also outsold every gas-powered car in the UK. In September 2021, the Model 3 was sold 6,879 times, outnumbering the Vauxhall Corsa (5,235 registrations) and the BMW 3 Series (4,788 registrations). The Vauxhall Corsa has had the most registrations (32,616) so far this year, trailed by the Volkswagen Golf and the Ford Fiesta. The Ford Puma and Mercedes-Benz A-Class complete the top five best-selling vehicles this year. September was the greatest month for new battery electric vehicle sales in history. With a 15.2 percent market share, 32,721 BEVs hit the road, indicating rising customer demand. Arguably the most intriguing finding from the SMMT statistics is that electric cars are rapidly increasing market share in the UK. According to the data, 32,721 BEVs were sold in September, a significant rise over the same day last year, when just 21,903 EVs were registered. This translates to a 49.4 percent rise in September 2021 sales over the same month in 2020. In addition, in 2021, 125,141 BEVs were sold in the United Kingdom. Only 66,611 units were sold until the third quarter of 2020, representing an 87.9 percent increase in sales in 2021 over 2020. The percentage of plug-in hybrid vehicles increased to 6.4 percent, implying that more than one in every five new vehicles registered in September was zero-emission capable. Hybrid electric cars increased their entire market share from 8% in 2020 to 11.6 percent in September, with 24,961 registrations. “The sights of panic-buying, punch-ups at the pumps, and miles-long lines have galvanized car consumers, causing an unprecedented increase in interest in EVs and hybrid vehicles,” said Karen Hilton, chief commercial officer of heycar. During the peak of the gasoline scarcity, between September 20 and September 27, electric vehicles sale considerations on heycar increased by 159 percent year on year. The volume of heycar users perusing electric vehicle ads was nearly double last year, up 94 percent, on the weekend when “shortages were most acute” (September 24 to 26). “This implies that convenience, rather than environmental concerns, may be driving more consumers into EVs,” Hilton added. Conversely, SMMT CEO Mike Hawes stated that “to fulfill our common decarbonization objectives, we need to guarantee all drivers β€” not just those with private driveways β€” can make the move, necessitating a huge investment in public recharging networks.” He stated that the deployment of EV charging stations “must maintain pace with the increase in plug-in car registrations.” Previously, the Model 3 was Tesla’s best-selling vehicle. Nonetheless, since the Model Y debuted in 2020, the Model 3 has assumed a backseat to its crossover sibling. In many places, like the United States and Norway, where electric automobiles are technically more popular than gas automobiles, the Model Y has supplanted the Model 3. The popular Tesla Model 3 and Model Y are more difficult to obtain than ever before, both on Tesla’s website and on the used vehicle market. As per Tesla’s online Design Studio, the Model Y Performance version, which is the fastest attainable configuration of the all-electric crossover, is virtually sold out for 2021. On the firm’s site, Model Y car models have a three-month or longer waiting period. The Model 3 is expected to be delivered in December. Those interested in a Model Y SUV will have to wait until February of next year. The more expensive Model S and Model X will have to wait much longer, until March or April 2022. The upper-end “performance” version of the Model 3 is expected to debut in November.
