On September 6, Huawei announced that the Mate 50 has officially become the world’s first mass smartphone that supports Beidou satellite messages. When the mobile phone has no signal, it can still send a short message within 19 characters for help.
How is this technology, which is officially called “piercing the sky”, realized? The UP owner of station B disassembled Huawei Mate 50 by “Look at the evaluation first”.
Because it is not sure which one is the short message chip. So the UP owner went to the Huawei Developer Conference in Songshan Lake, Dongguan, and found Bruce Lee, the vice president of Huawei’s mobile phone product line. As a result, Bruce Lee pointed him to five positions.
Helpless, I had no choice but to remove all the chip shields by myself and search for them one by one. I knew all the other chips. I found the most likely two unfamiliar chips. The size was only 2 mm. Compared with the short message used on satellite phones Chips (about 30mm long) are much smaller.
It is worth mentioning that on November 4, the State Council Information Office held a Beidou white paper conference, at which it was revealed that the cost of the short message chip was about 10 yuan.
Of course, in addition to chips, various antennas, signals, and technical problems need to be overcome before finally realizing the availability of Beidou satellite messages on smart products for mass consumption, and finally realizing the “installation” of satellite terminals in pockets.
You should know that the distance of the low-orbit satellite for Apple iPhone communication is only about 1,400 kilometers, while the GEO satellite connected by Huawei is in an orbital space of 36,000 kilometers.
