IPhone 12 mini shipments were sluggish

According to Canalys, worldwide smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2021 reached 347 million units. Apple accounts for 15% of the total, with iPhone shipments reaching 52.4 million units. Apple’s share is up 1 percentage point from 14% in the year-ago quarter.

Canalys hasn’t disclosed the estimated shipments for each iPhone model, but commented that iPhone12 mini shipments were slower than other models in the iPhone12 series.

Samsung wins first place in market share

Samsung has the largest share of the global smartphone market in the first quarter of 2021. The market share has reached 22%, and shipments have reached 76.5 million units.

Xiaomi shipped the most in the quarter, up 62% year-on-year to 49 million units.

Similarly, Chinese Oppo and Vivo are among the top five vendors, with shipments of 37.6 million and 36 million, respectively.

Huawei, which has been struggling due to sanctions from the United States, has the 7th largest share in the world. There is a strong view that the release of the sub-brand Honor is also related to the decrease in shipments.
