Apple’s mobile phone compatibility page confirmed that only the US models of the iPhone 13 series and iPhone 13 Pro series support the mmWave 5G frequency band. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo once predicted that iPhone 13 models supporting millimeter wave 5G will appear in more markets, such as Canada, Japan, Australia and some European countries. Research firm TrendForce has also cited surveys, predicting that iPhones with mmWave 5G will be available in more countries and regions.

mmWave is a set of 5G frequencies that promises ultra-fast speeds over short distances, making it most suitable for dense urban areas. In contrast, sub-6GHz 5G is generally slower than mmWave, but the signal transmission is farther, and it is more suitable for suburban and rural areas. Outside the United States, all four iPhone 13 models support the sub-6GHz frequency band, and sub-6GHz networks are more common in countries and regions where 5G has been launched.

According to Apple, the iPhone 13 series models in general do support additional 5G frequency bands, allowing these devices to have greater 5G coverage worldwide.
