In the early morning of January 19th, Beijing time, the latest report released by data research agency Canalys shows that thanks to the success of the iPhone 13, Apple mobile phones will account for 22% of global smartphone shipments in the fourth quarter of 2021. The top spot in the global smartphone market is followed by Samsung with a 20% market share. In addition, Xiaomi ranked third with 12%, OPPO ranked fourth with 9%, and vivo ranked the top five with 8%.

Canalys pointed out in the report that in the fourth quarter of 2021, Apple won 22% of global smartphone shipments. The last time Apple took the top spot was in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Analyst Sanyam Chaurasia believes: “Apple is doing well in mainland China, with high value for flagship devices due to aggressive pricing. Apple’s supply chain is recovering, but production capacity in the fourth quarter was still reduced. Forced downgrades because key components are out of stock and cannot make enough iPhones.”

The iPhone 13 went on sale in September and shipped more than 40 million units in the holiday quarter.

Samsung is in second place with a market share of about 20%. Xiaomi ranked third with a 12% share, OPPO ranked fourth with a 9% share, and Vivo ranked fifth with an 8% share.

Apple cut iPhone 13 production capacity by more than 10% in October due to chip shortages. (Xinghai)
