So Apple will soon eliminate the contacts chaos on the iPhone

One problem that feels as old as the iPhone itself is duplicate contacts. In addition to causing confusion, the duplicated entries also do not make a good visual impression. With iOS 16, Apple is now introducing a handy feature that will soon make duplicates a thing of the past.

From iOS 16: New function merges duplicates

A small find that we stumbled upon during our tests in the current iOS 16 beta version is the possibility of merging duplicates – i.e. duplicate contacts – with just a few clicks. The duplicate contact cards have always been annoying for iPhone users, so Apple has finally set about putting an end to the proliferation. The system automatically recognizes if there is more than one contact card for a person and presents the duplicates for further processing in the rubric of the same name.

The new feature can soon be found in the phone and contacts app, where it is displayed in the overview directly below your own contact entry (“My card”). With a tap on “Duplicates found” the duplicate entries can be merged individually or all at once.

In this way, the contact chaos can soon be brought under control in just a few steps. Incidentally, the function was already available on the Mac before, with iOS 16, which is expected to be released in September, it will also be available on the iPhone for the first time.
