After updating to watchOS9, you can’t stream on Spotify

After installing watchOS9, there is a bug that prevents you from streaming music on Apple Watch using the Spotify app.

Send alert email

Spotify can be streamed on iPhone without any problems, but watchOS 9 has a problem at the time of writing (as of September 17) that prevents it from streaming songs. Normally, you can play songs from the Spotify app on your device by connecting headphones to your Apple Watch via Bluetooth.

Therefore, it turned out that Spotify sent an email to users not to update to watchOS9.

A bug that prevents Spotify streaming on Apple Watch has occurred in watchOS9. Users of the Spotify Apple Watch app are advised not to install watchOS9 until Apple implements a fix for this issue. Already affected users can instead download content to their Apple Watch for offline listening or stream from their smartphones.

Maybe we need to wait until watchOS9.1?

According to the users affected by the problem, the Apple Watch will start streaming for a moment, but will immediately disconnect, leaving only the progress bar (the bar that shows the playing status of the song) to continue moving. Of course, no audio is played.

It’s unclear when Apple will fix the bug, as it’s a bug in a third-party app, not Apple Music. News site AppleInsider also mentions the possibility of having to wait for watchOS 9.1.
