Sources say BOE takes the lead in becoming Apple’s iPhone SE 4 screen supplier

IT House reported on March 27 that according to Korean media ZDNet Korea, BOE took the lead in becoming the screen supplier for Apple’s iPhone SE 4. Samsung Display withdrew from negotiations due to price issues.

Based on existing information, iPhone SE 4 is expected to be released in 2025, using a 6.1-inch OLED display of the same size as the iPhone 13/14 standard version, with shipments of up to 15 million units.

Referring to previous reports from IT House, there are three main companies competing for the screen supply license for Apple’s iPhone SE 4, namely BOE, Samsung Display and Tianma.

According to ZDNet Korea, Samsung Display gave up supply negotiations in the middle of this month due to price reasons, mainly because Apple’s price was only US$25 (currently about 181 yuan).

Samsung’s previous offer was US$30, which, although lower than the two Chinese manufacturers, was still far from Apple’s expectations.

Sources said that due to price differences, Samsung Display was not very interested in supplying iPhone SE 4 screens from the beginning. On the other hand, Apple also hopes to reduce the iPhone supply chain’s dependence on Samsung Display.

Another competitor, Tianma, although it has a clear intention to enter the iPhone SE 4 supply chain, its product quality has not yet met Apple’s requirements.
