Apple is about to implement a new service called “Presto within Apple” in U.S. retail stores. The core of this service is a dedicated hardware device called “Presto” that will allow Apple retail store employees to perform wireless software updates for unopened iPhones.
Recently, foreign media igen.fr revealed the true appearance of this “Presto” device. It’s actually a compact storage cabinet capable of holding six iPhones at the same time. Once the iPhone is placed in this locker, it can quickly update the iPhone to the latest iOS version in 15 to 30 minutes.
Reports about this service were first disclosed by Gurman as early as October last year. Subsequently, the 9to5Mac website also discovered code closely related to this feature in the iOS 17.2 system. It is expected that Apple will consider compatibility with “Presto” devices when designing and preparing the packaging boxes for the iPhone 16 series mobile phones.
