Four types of identifiers for the new iPad Pro confirmed from iPadOS 17.5 beta

9to5Mac reports that four types of identifiers and display firmware indicating the new iPad Pro have been confirmed from iPadOS 17.5 beta.

It is rumored that the new iPad Pro will be shipped with a version based on iPadOS 17.4 installed, but it is also possible that it will be changed to iPadOS 17.5.

Is it an identifier for two types of Wi-Fi models and two types of Wi-Fi+Cellular models?

According to 9to5Mac, the following four types of identifiers were discovered in iPadOS 17.5 beta.

  • iPad16,3
  • iPad16,4
  • iPad16,5
  • iPad16,6

These are expected to be for the Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi+Cellular models of the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models.

It is pointed out that the lack of production of 11-inch OLED displays is the cause of the release delay.

9to5Mac also said that the display firmware has been confirmed, and that the display type is organic EL (OLED) and that there are two suppliers.

LG Display is expected to supply 11-inch and 12.9-inch OLED displays for the new iPad Pro, and Samsung Display is expected to supply only 11-inch.

Initially, the 11-inch OLED display was planned to be supplied only by Samsung Display, but the yield rate was low, so it appears that LG Display has also started production.

It has been pointed out that this was the main reason for the delay in announcing the new iPad Pro.
