WWDC 18 app

In iOS14.3, we found that the range of apps that can be used by default has increased, and that users can select them while setting up the iPhone or iPad.

Default app can be selected

Apple released iOS 14.3 Beta 1 code for developers on November 12, local time, to find a statement that users can choose which apps to use by default during iPhone and iPad setup. The US media 9to5Mac reports.

Details are unknown as iOS 14.3 beta was canceled immediately after its release, but the code states that you can check the downloadable apps based on the laws of the country / region that provides the service. Therefore, it seems that the target is limited to some countries / regions.

This move seems to be a response to Apple’s use of its own apps by default, taking into account the antitrust issues raised in each country.

It has been pointed out in the United States and Europe that it may be a problem under antitrust law that Apple treats third-party apps disadvantageously by giving preferential treatment to in-house apps, and in October Reveals that the chairman of the Japan Fair Trade Commission is also interested in abusing priority positions.

In iOS14, the user can arbitrarily set the standard application with the browser and email.
