According to reports, five Amazon employees were arrested recently for allegedly stealing an iPhone worth US$590,000 from a logistics center in Madrid, Spain. It turned out that several workers secretly stuffed new iPhones such as iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro into some orders, replacing the actual ordered items in the package at the last minute. Amazon believes that these orders were placed by associates of the thief.
Among the 5 people arrested by the police, 3 were arrested while leaving work, one was arrested while working, and the other voluntarily surrendered to the police. At present, these 5 people have been fired by Amazon, waiting for the court’s judgment.
According to reports, when the police arrested these workers, they found that they had 10 iPhones on them, and they were going to take them out in the same way. In addition, they also carried a large amount of IMEI code paper, which appeared to be torn from the box to hinder investigation.
At present, the investigation is continuing to determine the final destination of these distributed iPhones, and the possibility of other people being arrested is not ruled out. According to estimates, the gang stole equipment worth 500,000 Euros (approximately US$592,000).
